We’ve all tried the Red Delicious, Macintosh, and Granny Smith, but what about  Ambrosia, Honey Crisp, Newton Pippin, Shamrock, Rosu de Kluj, or Winter Banana? If you haven’t caught on we are talking about Apples, and the UBC Apple Festival at the UBC Botanical Gardens is an incredible family event that will have you seeing apples all day long! Come out to this fun filled weekend apple extraveganza and make your way through apple sales, tastings, games, history, and a whole lot more.

More info:  Being held now for over 20 years, the UBC Apple Festival is a signal that the Fall season has arrived and one of our favourite fruits is now ready to be enjoyed. With over 60 varieties of Apples to try and purchase, you will be treated to not only ones that you are familiar with, but also some very unique, locally grown selections. Apple Trees are also available to purchase so that you can grow your own favourite apples at home. Along with the apple tasting and buying, there are also a number of different activities for everyone to enjoy. Apple experts are on site to help individuals identify apples that may be growing in their own backyards, while master gardeners give takes and provide advice on what you need to know to grow a healthy apple tree.

For the kids there is a children’s area where you can treated to face painting, story telling, arts and crafts, games, and many other fun and informative apple and gardening related activities. Most importantly the Apple Festival Food area has many different apple based treats that you can enjoy such as apple cider, apple turnovers, and apple pie. From crafts, to food, informative stations, and of course the apples themselves, the UBC Apple Festival is a great way to get out and enjoy a beautiful Fall Weekend.
