It’s looking like Vancouver in June is off to a great and (warm) start! To heat up your calendar a bit more, we’ve rounded up a bunch of great events you’ll definitely want to check out throughout the month ahead.   Read on and start planning.


Italian Day

italiandayvancouverBack for yet another awesome day of cultural celebrations, Italian Day returns to The Drive and brings with it all-things Italian culture-related. This massive annual event attracts more 300,000 people each year and takes over 13 blocks of Commercial Drive and features live music, lots of great Italian food, entertainment, fashion, cars, art, design, activities and more for the whole family.

Friday Perogie Dinner

Don’t miss this feast like no other (and one of our favorites that never goes out of style) at the Friday Night Perogie Dinner. It all goes down at the Ukrainian Church and features more than a few ways to stuff your face full of home made perogies, borscht soup, sauerkraut, sausage, cabbage rolls and more with new friends.

Father’s Day 5th Annual Wine and Swine

Head out to the picturesque Valley and straight to Township 7’s vineyard for their 5th Annual Wine & Swine celebration. The tasting includes a trio of anticipated wine releases paired up with gourmet BBQ fare and live music to wash it all down.

VCBW Festival

vcbwThe VCBW Festival is back at the PNE Fairgrounds for 2016, and it’s bigger & better than ever, with more beer, more food, more days, and for the first time ever, three stages and a full music line up! This year’s VCBW Festival showcases more than 100 different breweries and cideries pouring well over 350 craft beers ciders with craft beers never before seen in Canada, plus live music thanks to more than a dozen bands. 12+ bands

Red Truck Parking Lot Concert Series

Don’t miss this event taking place June 11th in the brewery’s East Van parking lot featuring local bands, DJ’s plenty of food trucks and you guessed it… beer courtesy of Red Truck Brewery. This Vancouver edition is the first of their summer-long series and features the sounds of Green Machine and Star Captains, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Dawn Pemberton, the Ballantynes and more.

Science World After Dark

On the hunt for a little adults-only fun that’s above the sheets, look no further than this month’s After Dark event that will have you getting sleuthy with it. It’s all about ‘Top Secret: License to Spy’ that will have you and your partner(s) in crime working together in a fun (and kids free!) setting as you take on the role of a secret agent and discover the science behind high-tech espionage. Have fun investigating leads to crack the evenings case, with cocktails-in-hand of course.

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

scandinavian-festivalThousands of people visit the Scandinavian Community Centre every year to celebrate the traditions and festivities of Scandinavian Midsummer. This year aims to be even bigger and better as the festival celebrates its 21st Anniversary with plenty of fun-filled activities, non-stop entertainment and a special night of outdoor electronic dance with bonfire beats and live DJs also taking place.

MEC Paddlefest

If you’ve ever harboured the desire to try your hand at one of the many awesome watersports available to us throughout the summer on the coast – then be sure to register to attend this series of events hosted by MEC. Run by a crew of talented instructors leading beginner, intermediate and advanced clinics covering paddling techniques, introduction to rolling, stand up paddle boarding or how to paddle a surf ski. You’ll also score a chance to pick up new and gently used gear to help get you out on the water this summer.

Joy of Feeding

Set within the sprawling, picturesque 60-hectare UBC property, take in the scene, enjoy live music, local craft beer and purchase fresh organic produce.

TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival

All month-long you’ll have the chance to check out one of many talented international jazz and blues artists playing various venues around the city. Look out for a slew of big names such as the Chris Sigerson Trio, Jennifer Hayes Sextet, Sarah Mclachlan and Ms. Lauryn Hill (to name just a few) who will be gracing the stage this month.
