With Mother’s Day just a couple of days away, here are some things you can do with you mom this Mother’s Day, starting off with a lovely Afternoon Tea at Secret Garden Tea Company, to a leisurely stroll around Van Dusen Gardens, to a nice cooking class at The Gourmet Warehouse
The Secret Garden Tea Company has been delighting Vancouverites for over two decades in the same charming location. It’s like stepping into your grandmother’s parlour and that’s an aesthetic that Kathy and Erin Wyder, the sister team behind the tea house, strived hard to achieve and work tirelessly to maintain.
Their afternoon tea set is a staple in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood with all walks of life congregating in their cozy restaurant. Plates of eggs and bacon, scones and desserts whizzed past as we settled into a lovely table by a bright window over looking the architecturally stunning Point Grey Secondary School.
Our tea set was placed in front of us with a pot of Creamy Earl Grey and it was a both a delight to the eye and, once we got started, the palette as well. The bottom tier had a variety of hearty finger sandwiches, the middle a lovely assortment of scones and blueberry bread and the top tier had a selection of decadent desserts. It was a lovely meal, a lovely experience and definitely recommended!
Beautiful walk around the Van Dusen Garden, smelling the fragrant Lilacs, and walking under the Laburnum canopy. You’ll be sure to spend a couple of hours in awe of all these beautiful spring blooms in the Garden
For dinner, why not take mom to a dinner cooking class? It can be a fun way to bond, as well as learning a few prepping and cooking tips from the chefs at The Gourmet Warehouse!
The Gourmet Warehouse is a Mecca for chefs from some of the top restaurants in Vancouver. They’re all looking for the same thing as us; professional grade pots and pans and specialty items you just can’t find anywhere else!
For almost two decades now the Warehouse has sat, in all its 19,000+ square foot of decadent culinary glory, on Hastings Street at Clark in the heart of Vancouver.
Their cooking classes are expertly run in their state-of-the-art, on site kitchen and it really is like watching the Food Network, with its overhead TVs giving you a bird’s eye view of the proceeding, except that you get to eat their creations when they’re done! Through in a generous pour from one of the Okanagan Valley’s many fabulous wineries and you’ve got yourself the perfect date, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or any celebration really!
Happy Mother’s Day everyone! What are you planning on doing with you moms this Mother’s Day? Let us know!
