Vancouver Fashion Week has just kicked off and with it a deluge of glitz and glamour throughout our fair city. If you haven’t already made a point of nabbing tickets to check out looks from the nearly 100 different designers – you’re committing a serious fashion faux pas.
There is no shortage of local and international talent at this year’s 27th Annual Vancouver Fashion Week. Organizers have spent the last year rounding up an impressive array of globally established and emerging designer talents such as Lautaura Amadeo Tambutto, Ankura, Florencia Occhiuzzi and Miami-based Sophia Dumaine to name just a few.
Plenty of locally grown purveyors of style will also take the runway by storm this year. New to FW16, catch the brother-sister duo behind Sagitteo as well as the latest looks from fashion students at La Salle College and former Blanche Macdonald student and London College of Fashion graduate-turned successful designer, Alex S. Yu.
A few names that are definitely on our fashion show radar and worth setting your style-sights on: catch Australian designer, Natasha Chiew and a sneak peek at her latest collection that reflect the opulence of middle eastern architecture on Wednesday night.
You might also want to nab seats to Ottawa-based Olivia Ruben’s show. If her latest lookbook is anything to base from – you can expect a decidedly ethereal twist on standard Canadiana attire.
Finally, if there is one show to make your way to before FW16 comes to a close, we suggest you beeline it down to the Chinese Cultural Centre for a look at the latest jaw-dropping gowns from Peruvian designer, Yahel Waisman.
And what’s a good fashion show without an even greater after party? Vancouver Fashion Week has plenty worth checking out to draw out the stylish night.
Our recommendations: aim to make an appearance at tomorrow night bash held at Republic where you’ll find no shortage of pretty people to gawk at. Alternatively, save your party dress for the weekend when both Bar None and Cabana will host to several post show parties that’ll have you dancing into the wee hours.
